22人、大学・大学院で書いたエッセイやレポートの2年間の比較。longitudinalとはいっても、継続的ではなく、Time 1とTime 2との比較。
一人ずつの個別の変化を見ると、実際、変化はほとんど見られない。
分野ごとにグループでまとめて疑似的縦断データとして、線形混合回帰分析（linear mixed-effects regression analysis）をした。

development of grammatical complexity（節と句）の予測
dependent clausesが減る
1. finite averbial clause
2. finite relative clause
phrasal modifiersが増える
3. attributive adjectives
4. noun as NP pre-modifiers
しかし、実際は、交互作用の影響もないし、時間差の影響もない。名詞の形容詞的用法のみが伸びた。
この結果をもって、Biber et al. 2011の発達段階の仮説を指示する結果だと主張されているが、ホントかな？
